I so agree with the advice of not reading any parenting books, I always found them so triggering. And the advice to be kind to yourself too - it's amazing what a little bit of self-compassion can do in a stressful moment. I love that quote about everything being alright in the end too, I'm going to remember that one, thank you!
Seriously, no parenting books, I thought I’d read them all because I love psychology but I think I am a better parent for not reading them and listening to myself and my child.
Definitely not alone in not always ‘liking’ your children! They really can be unpleasant at times! I often find myself muttering things under my breath… mostly wtf?!?! 😳 love all your honesty Eva thank you. X
“You can’t pour from an empty cup”—one of the first things I worked on in counseling! And NO—you aren’t alone. I sometimes speak of my children with expletives (in my head, yes). I enjoy my time from them, need it. From your comment here about being divorced, I’m wondering if you’ve heard of/read any poems by Ada Limón? She grew up in a split family and shares some about the good side of it, which people do not often consider. I would hope your daughters can tell a similar story someday!

Yes! Listening to our own instincts as mums can never be a bad thing ❤️
Yes yes yes! Exactly! 💕
Aw, you’re welcome! So glad so much of this resonates with you 🥰
